The No. 13 Florida Gators suffered a defeat in the second game of their series against the No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs, with a final score of 17-2. The game, held at Condron Family Ballpark, saw the Bulldogs take an early lead that the Gators were unable to overcome. Despite the loss, there were individual highlights for Florida, including a first-career home run by sophomore outfielder Hayden Yost.

The Bulldogs' offense proved too potent, fueled by multiple home runs throughout the game. While Florida struggled to generate consistent offense against Georgia's starting pitcher Brian Curley, they managed to break the shutout in the sixth inning and added another run in the seventh with Yost's homer. Florida's pitching staff also faced challenges, with starter Billy Barlow taking the loss after allowing six earned runs. Several freshman pitchers, Carson Montsdeoca and Felix Ong, made their collegiate debuts.

Despite the setback, the Gators will look to rebound in the series finale. Head Coach Kevin O'Sullivan emphasized the importance of the upcoming game and the need for the team to address their struggles. Florida and Georgia will conclude their series on Sunday. The Gators now stand at 18-7 overall and 0-5 in SEC play, while Georgia moves to 23-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
